Editorial Standards

The objective criteria a law firm must meet to be listed on LawFirmReport. These thresholds apply equally to every firm — published verbatim, versioned, and open to nomination.

Why we publish this page

Most online "best lawyer" lists don't tell you how they decide who appears. We do. The criteria below are the bar a firm must clear to be considered for a listing. They are observable, reproducible, and updated transparently when we change them.

A firm either meets the standard or it doesn't. Inclusion is not a paid placement. It cannot be purchased from us or from any affiliated service.

Current inclusion criteria (v1.0, effective 2026-05-25)

To be listed in the LawFirmReport directory, a firm must meet all of the following:

CriterionMinimum threshold
Google Business Profile star rating4.3 or higher
Total verified Google reviews25 or more
Review velocity (trailing 12 months)2 reviews per month or more
Owner response rate to reviews30% or higher
Time since most recent public bar discipline5 years or more
Years in business2 years or more

Initial inclusion criteria at launch. All thresholds may be adjusted; changes are logged and effective dates are public.

How firms enter the directory

There are three paths into the directory:

  1. Editorial discovery. Our editorial process continuously evaluates law firms in major U.S. metros using public data sources. Firms that meet every criterion above are added.
  2. Affiliated-service performance. Some firms become eligible while working with PlatinumProfile.ai, our parent company's Google Business Profile optimization service. PlatinumProfile firms that meet the criteria are added the same way any other qualifying firm would be. The criteria do not bend for affiliated firms.
  3. Nomination. Any firm believing it meets the criteria above may request editorial review at editorial@lawfirmreport.com. There is no fee. We respond within 10 business days.

How firms exit the directory

A firm is removed under any of the following conditions:

  • The firm requests removal at /opt-out (7-day removal SLA after verification).
  • The firm's measured performance falls below the current inclusion criteria for two consecutive monthly evaluations.
  • The firm becomes subject to public bar discipline within the disciplinary window.
  • The firm ceases operations or its Google Business Profile is removed.

Affiliated services disclosure

LawFirmReport is operated by Mass Tort Ad Agency LLC, a marketing firm serving plaintiff law firms. Mass Tort Ad Agency also operates PlatinumProfile.ai, a Google Business Profile optimization service.

Mass Tort Ad Agency additionally publishes three sister editorial properties: The Client Report (settlement value reference), LocalVerdict (city-level firm rankings), and InjuryLiteracy (post-injury reference content). See the editorial network for the full description of these properties.

Some firms featured on LawFirmReport are clients of PlatinumProfile or other Mass Tort Ad Agency services. This relationship is disclosed on every page where featured firms appear. The criteria above apply to all firms regardless of any affiliated-service relationship.

Featured firms do not pay LawFirmReport for inclusion, for ranking position, for the wording of their listings, or for any other editorial benefit. None of the sister publications named above accept paid placement either.
